SuperSpeed USB 10Gbps (USB 3.1 Gen 2)

By incorporating the latest SuperSpeed USB 10Gbps (USB 3.1 Gen 2) technology, the AKiTiO Neutrino U3.1 is able to deliver up to twice the speed of the USB 3.1 Gen 1 connection which runs at 5Gbps. At the same time, with a corresponding USB-C to USB adapter cable, the device is still backwards compatible with the widely used USB 3.0 and even USB 2.0 technology.

Reversible USB Type-C™ Connector

This portable and compact drive runs on bus power alone without the need for external power. The reversible USB Type-C connector enhances ease of use for connecting USB devices with a focus on minimizing user confusion for plug and cable orientation.

Portable and bus powered

Benchmark

Results will vary depending on the test environment and the drive but with an SSD, the USB 3.1 interface provides sufficient bandwidth to max out the performance of a single SSD. For traditional spinning hard disk drives, the faster interface makes no difference, because the drive itself simply cannot go any faster.

saggiamente

I think this product is great for what it is; a no-frills SATA-III SSD caddy that runs over USB-C. You can buy the Akitio Neutrino U3.1 for around $50. As a hard drive caddy for the most popular external SSDs available, it’s hard to fault it. It does one thing in an enclosure barely larger than the SSD itself: it’s perfect to throw in a bag and carry around with you. Read More...
