Sante Fe Springs, Calif., May 1, 2012 / ‐‐ AKiTiO is proud to announce the arrival of our new portable Thunderbolt™ storage device, the Neutrino U3 Thunder, which will be unveiled in Taipei, Taiwan during Computex 2012 (June 5-9).

Thunderbolt™ was developed by Intel and brought to market with the help of Apple. Originally codenamed Light Peak, Thunderbolt™ is the newest high speed I/O technology that was designed for optimum speed, performance, simplicity and flexibility. Thunderbolt™ is currently the fastest method of transferring data between a PC and other peripherals such as external storage devices and displays. It is able to provide simultaneous, bi-directional transfers of up to 10 Gbps over a single channel. Intel envisions Thunderbolt™ to be the future of data transfers.

According to Intel, “Thunderbolt™ technology enables products that are able to:

  • Transfer a full-length HD movie in less than 30 seconds
  • Back up one year of continuous MP3 playback in just over 10 minutes”

The new AKiTiO portable Thunderbolt™ storage enclosure provides two of the fastest interfaces available on the market, Thunderbolt and USB 3.0. While Thunderbolt™ is currently by far the fastest, it is only presently available on newer Apple MacBook Pro laptops. For those using Windows based PC’s, the fastest, currently available technology is USB 3.0. This new AKiTiO product was designed to be a bridge between the incredibly fast next generation (Thunderbolt™) and the current USB 3.0 technology.

Digital Media consumption continues to grow at an astonishing rate, and will continue to grow at an even faster pace. If you are looking for the fastest, simplest and most flexible technology currently available, then look no further than the affordable and portable AKiTiO Neutrino U3 Thunder.
